the new GM vehicles cannot be "chipped". They're tuned, changing the stock peramiters on the factory PCM. Check out some sponsers to the right-------------->
Wheatley, Nelson Performance, etc. There are lots of companies that do it, if your close to one they could even do a dyno tune which would be the best. Those RST trucks already have a cold air intake and short tube headers so a good tune and healthy cam would do wonders.

welcome RST.
do you have the 4.8 with 5-speed trans?
if so the first thing i would do is a get rid of the shorties and go to long tubes without cats, or get some high flow cats. the stock cats hold the truck back so much. when i went to lts is was a ngiht and day difference. and the regency exhuast sound bad *** with lts ad no cats. take a listen to the sound clip in my sig.

Yeah its the 4.8 5spd. I'll definitely look into the exhaust mods a little further.

Regency04, are those hp/torque numbers out of the 4.8 and are you still using the stock tranny?
Just bought mine about a month ago...god what an amazing truck.
I'm looking for suggestions on how and where to start engine mods. I'll have to do it in stages with a budget of ~1k three maybe four times a year.
Everyone I have talked to tells me chip it chip it. I'm thinking of starting with the top end...heads, cam. A pro charger would be nice, but for a few thousand more I can put a crate 427 in it
Yup it was with the stock tranny but it wouldn't shift very fast. i just bought a viper t56 off ebay and am working on getting it put in. if your wanting to do engine mods i'd pick up a 6.0 i got mine for 700 dollars.

oh, yea. i almost forgot. if you want that five speed to shift faster you need to do whats call a "drill mod". youll have to do a search over on ls1tech.com, it helps out from what i understand and its a free mod.
