I've seen that Hurst makes (or made) a short throw kit for the NV3500. Just wondering if you could find one how much it would clean up the shifting especially the 2-3 shift.

Looks killer! Where did you get your boot made up? I need to have one made from my console. You custom bend the shifter too?

yea jake, i used a piece of 5/8" X 16" rod and milled a slanted face on the bottom end and then bent the rod to offset properly and got a threading die for the shift ****. i have family that owns a drycleaner and had them make up a boot for me. when i get the money im gonna try to modify the pro 5.0 shifter that i have on there to get a true short throw up top at the shift ****.

Some people like it some say its a waste of money. Ive heard alot of people say its "just putting a band aid on the 2-3 shift." That shift will always kinda suck in these 5-speeds, T56 swap is the way to go.

Heres the short throw shifter thread
https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...d.php?t=443759

I just made a shorter stick for mine. My Joe Gibbs came with the "Nascar style" shifter that was really long, so I custom made and identical one 2.5" shorter. Wasnt too tough to make but didnt really gain me anything, throw is a little shorter but thats it.

from what i remember reading, the hurst and the drill mod might seem like it helps the 2-3 shift, but the issue is internal in the trans. the gears are so far apart in range that the syncros wont line up quick enough. i dont know of anyone that has gotten the nv3500 to "shift quick" from 2-3.

Sucks if you ask me..
Ive seen someone take a center console out of a regular chevy truck with the auto trans, and cut the cup holder out and put the shifter through there, what trans do you think that could have been or you think they just made the linkage that way? i ask this because im new to this, and i have that sorry 4.3l v6 with that 5spd, its fun to burn out around a turn in but thats about it, a maxima smoked me and my girl was driving the max. i want to do a t56 swap but which trans to go with? tremec or borg warner? and with that what rear would you prefer? i want to put the 6.0l down in it with some different heads on it, and i like that center console but with the shifter next to the cup holders. I also want to do the SS front bumper conversion, thats what i am currently working on, where can i find the brackets for the cover? my truck already has the black steel bumper in the front. I can get the SS front cover from LMC Truck who has it. i just need to know where to get the brackets and other pieces i need for it. any info would help alot,

Will the T56 be a quick bolt up, as in remove and replace?
