Stripe Removal
#3
I will +1 to the stripes making the truck. I have a black w/red stripes RST and I pulled the stripes off when they started peeling. While fighting regency to get them replaced under warranty, it was completely different, and I was SOOOO glad when they finally sent them to me. I installed them myself that night, havent been off since even though they've started splitting and look all chalky... prolly just gonna paint em on here soon.

+2 on the stripes making the truck. one thing i knew when i was looking for an aftermarket hood was i wanted to keep the stripes. without them the trucks look like any other Silverado with rims. 1FSTRST still love your truck though

My stripes are totaly cracked and peeling up. I think I'm going to have to peel them up. Is the paint underneath going to be blended into the rest of the hood or is it going to be faded bad? Where can I get more stripes?

Not only will there be a difference in the color, but you will have more finite scuffs on the areas not covered by the stripe (basically the stripe has been protecting the paint underneath, so it wont have the swirls from washing it, dust scuffing it, etc)

yeah i've got my hood sanded & in primer & you can still see the outline of the stripes...as far as where to get more stripes you can actually get them from GM (they still put the stripes on the Monte Carlo SS) but i would just have them painted on to prevent it from happening again...or if you go to a vinyl guy just tell them you want the stripes with the same dimensions off a '70 Chevelle SS should be the same...they look the same anyway
and as long as you use the rubber tool from Napa to remove the stripes you should be fine just hit the leftover glue with some acetone & you'll be fine (not too much acetone though lol)

Well I have a black hood so I'm sure it will be faded bad. I thought I could get away with peeling them up and using a buffer to blend the hood together?? What's this tool at Napa klook like to remove the stripes? Id rather not paint them on because I might want to change colors later.
