Last year I set three landspeed records and in my 03 SS Silverado
not sure i would recomend nitrous for standing mile unless you just grab it around 120mph and hold it to the finish.

Hey TexSiverado, I run under the sanction of the East Coast Timing Association who has been holding landspeed time trials on two mile airport runways for around seventeen years. We ran in Maxton, NC. until last year on the Maxton Mile where I set my first record in Oct. of 2010, then after inproving the run way for sixteen years now we are running the Ohio Mile at the Wilmington Air Park. I run in C/Production Pickup the class is based on engine cubic inches. You can move up in class four posititions to AA/PP if you like. Our rule book has basically the same rules as the SCTA and many of our members run at Bonneville each year. The class that the guys you mentioned running 155 mph in the 1/4 mile would run in several different modified classes where we have vehicles running 230mph+. I looked into running at the Texas Mile, talked to a very nice lady and received a packet of rules. We have probably six times as many classes as the Texas Mile does and the Safety requirements are much more restringent. HotRod Magazine covers the April event each April and covers it in the magazine article and on Hotrod TV. Find your last July issue and it starts off about me and the last two paragraphs are about me.
Did you really think I made that stuff up, if everybody ran 155 mph in the 1/4 mile and there were no more classes dragracing would not have lasted over 65+ years?
I think 140 mph in a 5830 lb. truck in a standing start mile with no head, cam or supercharger is pretty damn good and the challenge of getting it to go faster is a real challenge and a hell of a lot of fun. If I wanted to go faster I would just get my 500 hp. Corvette out or my 1700 lb. 37 Chevy truck with 375 hp which is the fastest vehicle I own.
