It says I have one, but when i click it, it brings me to my page, and guess what. No new visitor message. And it wont go away.

If you clicked back after reading one it will still be there. You have to refresh for it to go away.
So you click it and the drop down comes down, which one is lite up?

This also goes in the Suggestions section, not the truck stop... Come on NEWB!!!

So the top right says 1 new notification. You scroll over or click it and there is a drop down of many different notifications possibilities. Which one is lite?
