I believe FLYER had a big cam like that on his 5.3 and it took him alot of time trying to tune it??? I dont think its worth having a big cam like that, I wouldnt go over a 226....

so 226 tops, maybe the 224. i did go small first hand to upgrade later, so i didnt get in too deep. but i dont want to do it a 3rd time. i see these other ecsb trucks hittin 13s regularly. i am tired of 15s. i know tires got alot to do with it, but i dont think it would break 13.9 even with ET Streets.

You will need a bigger stall for any bigger of a cam.

Something ain't right with your setup man.I'm at a 14.8 with bolt on on my 5.3
I have LT's catback cai e-fans pulleys and a tune.
I don't see why your running in the 15's.
I am also on street tires......not sure bro.

and i have seen people slow down cause they over cam their set up a cam that big in an x-cab 5.3 would need at least a 3600 are 3800 stall and 4.56 gears so you can shift it up around 7000 rpms
i put the cam in johns truck 224 and it wasa perty good but you could feel when the cam would come in and start makeing power.
realy if you want to change something put 4.56 gears in and see what you think

DakotaKiller5.3

not to be an *** but with the mods you have you should be low 14.s.
not to bad mouth anyone but i woould get rid for the tci you are haveing the same problem that slow had when he had his tci no 60'

what kind of timing are you running
where are you shifting
what tires are you running

the reason for all the ? is just tring to figure out where the problem would be so don't take this as tring to put you down

well, 4.56s would not be anygood on the highway. this is my only reliable vehicle, sad to say. i plan on a bigger stall, but i have to get a cam in it to sell the old one for a TC. well yall think a 220 is over doing it???

no no, not being an ***... HELP ME.

1. timing... i dunno, what ever allen thought was right.

2. 1st = 6500 2&3 @ 6000

3. 60' is all tires! i have some really crappy falkens on there. the TCI stalls right from 3000-3300.

the 15.01 is what gets me. i really think it is quicker on the street than the track. but ALL my times were @ 100*+ and humid as hell. 3rd feels like ***, no pull at all. from the 1/8th to the 1/4 trap speeds only rise about 7mph. but this truck was tuned with the pcv valve off too, i dunno if it makes a difference or not.

EDIT: times are without spare/tailgate

but if you go with higher stall and bigger cam then gas mileage will go to **** anyway i drove 1 hour and 15 min to work one way for a year with 4.56 gears but i did have 31" tall toyo proxes.and i was still able to put down a 1.80 60' on street tires.i would put your 2 3 shift at 6500 also.
have you taken the front sway bar off it helps alot

something is not right cause i was just looking at some of my slips and i am picking up between 12 to 20 mph from 1/8 to 1/4

how much gas are you running with you may be running out of fuel are change your fuel filter are your fuel pump could be droping off pressure on the top end.

JMO i think you have the right cam just need to get all the trimings to work with the cam

well the statement about highway was more for a decent rpm @70. with 4.56 & 27.25 tires thats 2800rpm. front swaybar off?? what for? wieght? i would like it to shift @ 6500 in 2nd i dunno why allen didnt. usually 1/2-1/4 tank. filter is changed every 25K. why the f$#@ wont anyone say ANYTHING about this pcv valve? tell me it is a big problem, no problem, tell me to quit being dumb and stop worrying about it. sorry not trying to be a dick, but no one will even acknowledge i said it.
