Default 78 blazer? good vehicle?

im looking at a 78 blazer for 900 on craiglist, anyone had one...im giving my fiance my truck so we can sell her mustang and buy a house. im looking for a vehicle i can pay cash for and found this, i havent seen it yet other than pics but the guy says it runs well, 2wd, removable top, 1800 in stereo equipment. body looks straight from the pics, edelbrock carb, headers/exhaust. i think it sounds like a good old school project till me and the fiance can get situated better with the baby coming and all.....any opinions?

BIG BLOCK and Tubbed

I like those old school blazers. Transplant LQ4 into it. Hell even a LM7 would be a nice swap

I had a 90' K5 4x4 I wish I still had it! The 2wd's are rare I'd jump on it if I was you!

Had a couple of them, 81 & 89, both 4x4. Look for rust where the top bolts to the cab and check the rubber weatherstrip. Check the frame where the power steering gearbox is bolted on, there are probably cracks, but there are patch kits to fix it. Make sure the back window rolls down/up, if you can't roll it down you can't open the tailgate. Check the gas tank for leaks, you can get new ones for $150+.

For $900 I'd ****** it up. A buddy had a mid-80's 2wd that he lowered a little and put a good 350 in and it was fun to run around in. If you do get it, this catalog will be you new best friend: http://www.lmctruck.com

Ya like they said. Sounds good, but check it over well. Look for bondo in the body work around the rear fender wells, rocker panels and doors.

im going to take a look at it sat.......it has a new gas tank already, has been in north LA forever so he says no rust, but i am going to look at the body mounts, fender wells, weather stripping.....whats do i need to look for around the power steering pump. i have lots of friends that run 350's for dirt track and already have a lunati crank, pistons, rods, pushrods, cam, springs with my name on them for $150......all i will have to do is recondition the block and do some head work for what they are saying is a 550hp setup with the parts he has.....but i dont know if this is BS.......how are the transmissions in the blazers?
