The smaller calibers wander a lot is why I say a larger caliber and especially if youre going to be killing deer with it. Youre going to need atleast 800 ftlbs of *** behind that bullet to kill a deer and a 270 at 1000yds simply isnt going to be carrying the mail that far out. This is all on factory loads of course so maybe you can do something with your reloading wizardry to get them pumped up a bit more. Id be interested to see if you can pump it up enough at the muzzle without sacrificing accuracy to kill a deer at 1000yds.

You need to get a 338 RUM to play with those can be turned into all kinds of fun rounds

Ballistics Chart for Win 270:

Notice how badass the Noslers are, yet another reason why I shoot them along with being one of the most accurate bullets Ive ever shot. Looks like if you went with a Nosler you may have a chance of carring enough *** to kill a deer with a decent shot but the other ones look like it'd just wound them from that far out.

I used to shoot .22 for fun in high school. My school had a shooting range in the basement. I had a lot of fun with that.

I really need to get into reloading, my dad has a damn arsenal in his gun safe that I could play with but I just dont have the facilities to mess with it. Or the time/money with being married and ahving a kid on the way

Its not illegal to mail ammunition right? If so Id buy the dies and ship you my brass and obviously reimberse you for your time.

If you get some loads nailed down good with the 270 let me know I wouldnt mind having some better loads for mine even though I rarely use it anymore. 300WSM FTW!

I actually have some 300 WSM dies. and a couple peices of brass.

Ill ask the postmaster and see what he says, I order ammo and stuff all the time and it gets delivered to my office so i dont see why not.
