cam poistion sensor going bad!
posted this here cause i know this section stays busy and i need an answer quick.
got a buddy that has a 05 or 06 escalade with a 6.0 in it. he says the engine light came on and he said it was having problems starting or something along those lines so he took it to autozone and they said it was the cam position sensor that needed to be replace. i told him i could replace it for him. my question is, is it just as simple as to take out the old one and put in the new one or does the computer need to be flashed or what? thanks fellas

you will need to buy the socket to replace it or build you one, I believe its a 13/16 extra deep socket, allmost 4-1/4 deep, yep just replace it and put new one in, also need to get code cleared, its in the very rear of the engine, its easier to get to if you take the intake off. good luck.

ya i know where its at, i had to remove it from my 4.8 and swap it to the ls1 back when i did my swap, just was making sure that there wasn't anything extra that i needed to do besides clear the code and wanted to make sure it would solve the problem of it not starting right, thanks
