I "heard" that placing the MAF too close to the T-body would cause the MAF meter to get eradic readings due to the turbulance at the T-body.
Maybe it can be tuned for its relocation. I know other vehicles have them bolted right up to the T-body.

I've seen on some vehicles, especially air-bagged ones, the filter bolted to the TB w/ no MAS. I wonder how they did away w/ the MAS?
