So who all is going to the bash this weekend since we are on the subject. That vacuum chest sounds like it would be pretty kick ***, especially if you could make one light enough.

IF you are billy badass at welding and can make aluminum vaccum tight it would be light. Probably more expensive but badass. I would stick to a big *** stainless unit myself.

You will need some pearlite insulation within anulus as well.
Wonder if some thick gauge SS would work? We have tons of it at work that gets trashed....

Anybody got a Tig Welder i can borrow????

Yea itll work. Make sure you put a fair amount of braces in it if it is thinner. You just need to have it leek detected once you get it sealed. Its a bitch. They actually pull a vacuum on the anulus, hook up a Leak Detector (LD) and spray helium on the outside of the tank. If it leaks the helium(which is a very small/simple molecule) will be detected by the LD. If there is the slightest pin hole the tiny He molecule will get sucked in by the vacuum. Make sure you actually fuse the metal while walking the cup and dont dip the tungsten. If you do, grind it out and start over. Weld with stainless filler and use a clean grinding wheel and tungsten.
