I got a 32 over in late 05.. Neither the judge nor the officer mentioned it, but I had heard that a law such as this has existed for a couple years now. Had me scared when I was pulled over for sure!

i usually dont go over 10mph over the limit unless im on a few certain back roads that i could drive with my eyes closed anyways. and a + is that these back roads dont have a posted speed limit ( which legally means a 45 zone) and i usually do about 80 in the long sweeping corners and go flat out on the straights. it nice to just go out on those roads and let the truck stretch its legs, its my stress relief/anger management/therapy

The Judge on the other hand was beside himself when I spoke to him, because the Trooper did not arrest me there on the spot..
he mentioned that he would have a talk with that trooper and that any one going 20MPH over the speed limit in HIS county would/and should be put in jail.
I counted my blessings payed my ticket, and went about my way..
also talking to the HPD officer that lives accross the street for me..
it's usually up to the officer if he wants to haul you in or not..
depending on the severity of what you where doing... I.E. racing, driving irradically.

I had gotten that same ticket back on Halloween 2000. I was being chased by some crazed idiot (long story) and the trooper told me I'm close to going to jail. The judge didn't really care, he said speeding is speeding, doesn't matter if I was going 66 or 106, it just changes the amount of the fine. Also, the trooper gave me a impeding traffice fine. The judge said how do you impede traffic at 102?

They may try to classify your excessive speed as wreckless driving or similar - but you can't go to jail for speeding.
