Don't know anything about this, except it needs to be able to drain once filled in

Filled in? With H2O, or do you mean filled-in as you don't want a swimming pool anymore (fill with dirt)?

Elaborate for this brainless wonder.

Really just depends on where ya live. I know in the city of houston and larger populated areas, I believe that you are required to permit to fill in. That may not be the case. Best bet would be to look up your city or county ordinances online thru the city or county online government page to check.

Although I'm sure more people don't permit to do so, and if you have the dirt and means to do so, if you could do it overnight in the cover of darkness then who'd know?

is that in Albany or Baton Rouge? either way personally I'd probably just bust it up with a jack hammer to make sure it doesn't hold water and start dumping the dirt in

Filled in w/dirt, sorry

We've pretty much sold our house in Albany and the buyer can't get a loan until it is either repaired or filled in. Since it'll cost them more to fix it than forget it, they want to go ahead and dump dirt in it. We've since talked to the va (where he's getting the loan) and they don't require anything special to be done, so he's gonna get a contractor to come in, bust up the bottom and fill it in. We're getting all this in writing, in adiition to us not being liable for anything that might happen during or after it's filled in
