Thumbs up Update on Nova

alright, i picked up the car a month or so ago, It's a 1969 Chevy Nova SS. Had it a week and drove it to the cruise-in in byram then set it up on blocks. Here are some progress pics. So far i've been replacing and cleaning up. Not all parts are on yet. Hooker Headers, plugs, plug wires, cap/rotor, Billet Specialties vavle covers, CSR high torque starter, reworked carb by Gary Williams, fuel line from pump to carb also from Gary, OE correct brake booster, master cylinder, proportioning valve, new stainless brake lines, had manual steering swapped to power steering (box, pump, lines, pitman arm). Seatbelts, LED Taillights, trunk mat replaced, Waiting on a the spare tire jack and mounting to come back from powder coat. Stewart Warner tach. Engine coolant temp wasn't hooked up. moved throttle return sping to rear of engine. Milodon Stainless Oil Dipstick, ARP stainless carb studs, ARP stainless valve cover bolts

IDK, i might have missed something. but that's about what i've been working on these 3 weeks.

Here is what i had to start with. You can see the plug wires were run everywhere including down the top of the intake and down by the water pump. heater hose connectors were rusted, rusted hedman headers, '350' valve covers, coolant temp wasn't hooked up even, dirty filter and cover.. lot's to do..

Now, the progress -

LED tails

seatbelt anchor?? All of them were like this.

Performance stainless Water neck and heater hose connector

Dart Iron Eagle 215 Heads, Heater hose fender mount, hooker ceramics, billet specialties valve covers, williams carb and lines. k&n filter and lid

Old vs New

Mock up with the wires under headers. still have some work to do

holley carb and lines

stewart warner tach. it has a quick disconnect for a aux shift light. i didn't want the huge shift light that you can buy, and don't really need one, but i will mount a single LED in the dash up high just as a incase i need it or something.

Comp Cam 1.5 rollers, pushrod guides, and girtles. CSR hi torque starter

Let me know what you guys think and any suggestions!!

Thanks for lookin!
Jones

Damn man no love for the Nova's around here or what?....lol. It's lookin good man. It is amazing what the details can do for an engine compartment. Where'd you find the LED tails and what does it take to wire em up? Also did you have any interference with the driver side header and the steering box?

A company called Technostalgia (www.cool-leds.com) does the LED lights. I've put a set in my dads 67 and my 69. To hook them up they just bolt into you factory tail lights with a gromet for the wire to go out where the incondecent bulb snapped in. Then just hard wire it into the factory harness. Here is a pic of dads with the LEDs from this company

I don't know about the steering box yet. It is the only thing left and everything is waiting to go on around that. So... it should be in next week. With the old Hedmans and the manual gear box, one of the primary tubes did hit the box.

Cool man Thanks for the info. I might have to look into a setup for mine. What steering box did you go with? I just ordered one for mine a couple weeks ago.

tach looks good. whats the goals of the car? it already looks sweet to me. i'd love to have a car like that. camaro but still, something about the older cars that would make me leave the truck alone and focus totally on the car

goals for the car.. i am just looking to have a good driver. Nothing too rediculous or radical. The car is all original on the inside except the three gauges on the bottom of the dash, and i like the originality look on the outside and inside with a monster lurking under the hood!! The motor thats in it is already pretty hot and has a pretty aggressive cam. That's half of what i like about it, the sound! After i get done cleaning it up and back together i hope to have it to where i can put it up and when i wanna drive it somewhere go down crank it and not worry about if it will start or run right. I've got to get some frame connectors and tract. bars bad!
