Clifford, Viper, are all DEI and good stuff, codealarm is good. All alarms are good now days. What gets you is the quality of the install of said alarm that's what will leave you walking at 3 am on a cold friday night. Solder and heatshrink are your friends

x2. I have a few friends that have Viper alarms with the 2way remotes with displays. They swear by them. Anything that happens to your car your keyfob will tell you. Plus due to the large amounts of smart phones sold nowadays you can now control some of these alarms using software from the alarm companies. for example you can unlock/arm/roll windows down etc, etc from anywhere in the world from your smart phone. The app is secure so if your phone ended up missing you wouldn't have anything to worry about. Pretty cool stuff!

I have a viper two way and love it. Unless you know your trucks wiring harness forwards and backwards, pay someone MECP certified to install it. It's worth the 150 dollar+ install to have it done correctly. Depending on where you buy the alarm, install may be included in the price. Mine has ~ 2000 foot range, so I can sit in my room and start the truck in the parking lot. It has kept my stereo safe so far. I chose to have the alarm installed before I got heavy into putting in my stereo, but to each his own. One dislike: those remotes go through batteries like crazy. Get a rechargeable one if you can afford it.

Had the top of the line Clifford on my truck. Was cool as a novelty (the remote, remote start, etc.), but looking back now, I'd rather have the money I spent on it back.

An alarm doesn't stop many thieves, if they really want to steal something, they're going to get it no matter what you do.

the viper smartstart, which is about 300 bucks, will work with iPhone and Android Smartphones. I'm pretty sure it works with blackberries too. It does depend on having cell service though, and I've never seen them reveal what carrier they used for the mobile connection. As far as I know, they don't charge a monthly fee for the service, and the app required for the phone is free.
