Post 7" indash in 01 sierra installation

Hey I wanted to put one of those 7" indash touchscreens in my 01 gmc sierra but I was wondering if it would fit in my dash since theyre so big. I currently just have a nothing special pioneer one but the hole its in looks too small like it wont fit that big ole 7" indash. What would I need to install it? would i need a new harness? Also is the one in this link any good? i dont have much money to spend on it right now.

It won't fit, unless you do some serious hacking. I'm assuming you have a GMRC-01, which you can still use IF it did fit, which it won't. Lastly, whatever you do, don't buy that damn "Excellent" double-din. You'll have no customer support when it does break, and you can get a decent double-din for $100 more. If you don't have the money for a nicer unit, how will you have the money to replace that one in a month?

It will go, however like said it is a bit of cutting in the under side of the dash.. I like to **** when I went to put my unit in a few years back. But it will go, just need to be patient and take your time..

You can get a brand new Kenwood or Pioneer double-din for under $300, with harness and dash kit. At an audio store that I use to work at in an out, I can't tell you how many Jensen flip-up's were sold without return. They don't get loud, and they adjustability just isn't there; however, if you've got a simple setup, that's where I'd lean. Check out Sonicelectronix and look at Jensen single-din's

From the few I have had the pioneer ones seem to be more strait forward, not as hard to use.. I have a kenwood one now that I am prob going to not use, go back to a pioneer unit.. You get what you pay for..

There should be a few writeups around here about different approaches guys have taken to fit a double-din into the 99-02 GM 1.5 din hole. Some guys have used bezels from 03+, while others have modded their 99-02 bezel. It's doable, but it's some work to get it to look right

You can put the 03 up rear dash bracket assembly in your truck and then use an 03 up IP bezel and it will go right in without hacking the **** out everything.
