Default Adding some speakers

My 2004 RCSB Sierra has the base 4 speaker system (UQ3) two speakers in the back and two tweeters in the doors. It looks like the doors have a spot to put some round speakers. Can I add some speakers here and is there an output in the radio for them. Also thinking to upgrade to GM navi unit 15811289. Thanks

Your doors only have tweeters? I think there should be some 5 1/4 or 6 1/2 woofers there, no? In addition to the tweeters.

my 99's doors only had 6-1/2s (if i remember right from 7yrs ago) and something like 5x7s in the B-pillars.
the upper trims should've had a tweeter above the 6-1/2 in each door.

Yes, mine too. I replaced mine even longer, like in 2008-2009. It was one of the first things that I replaced on my 99 Silverado. The originals were paper cone speakers with foam surround (long gone) and they looked like they were $0.25 quality, lol.

I was talking to my buddy that has an 01 RCSB with the bare bones trim option (manual windows/locks, etc) and he was telling me replaced his speaker recently. I want to say he also mentioned 6 1/2 speakers for the doors, so I will guess that's what they all had there?

IDK what the Bose system got. But you know what the audiophiles say about Bose: "No highs, no lows, must be Bose." 🤫

found my old Crutchfield receipt:
6.5s in the doors & 4x6s in the b-pillars

didn't look up what tweeters the upper trims used... but i do remember the door panel is different.

Ok, so I removed the door panels and both door speakers are blown. The paper is falling apart and they show 0 ohms with my meter. Any advise on replacements, don’t need anything expensive just a little better than what was in there….

also, rears are ok but if I’m upgrading then any recommendations here also…

The oversized 6 1/2” or 6 3/4” flanged speakers usually fit the panel better. I’d stay with a decent brand such as JL, Polk, JBL, Infinity, or the like. Somewhere in the $80 per pair and up range should get you decent speakers.

If you still have the factory adapter there, you can pry it off and use regular 6.5” in the adapter. I wasn’t sure if it was still factory or not in there. A lot of times, those are long gone, and the regular 6.5” don’t fit as well. You will have to use self-tapping screws without the adapter.
