Aftermarket stereo w/ STOCK head unit??? How To??
I'd like to run the stock deck (stealth) with a single 12" sub in custom box, some Alpine 6.5" components in the doors, stock pillar speakers (should these be upgraded too, or no?), and a single 5-channel amp for simplicity's sake.
What do I need to power the amplifier with the stock deck?
Can I run the 5-channel amp with the stock deck?
thanks,
Chris

There is an adaptor of some sort you can buy at a local audio store. I can't remember what they call it off the top of my head, just tell them you want to hook an amp up to a stock head unit. They will know what adaptor you need.

I love those kinds of attitudes....
Ebay sucks ***. It is what is ruining the industry (and many others)a a whole and even car audio manufactures see this and are clamping down on unauthorized internet sale. When the small shops can't stay open because everyone want's to buy illegal **** off the net and now they have nowhere to go for advice on how to install it you can thank the internet and attitudes like yours.
BTW, the part # is a Sven4 from Peripheral........ $40-$45 retail. You'll also need a remote turn on adapter since the Class2 data bus systems don't offer a standard ignition wire for your remote turn on.

ok here goes. like f8l said. if you are wanting to do it right--go to an audio store. if you are wanting to do it cheap with noise and not sound good then go ebay. you are willing to spend all that money and then go cheap with the very thing that makes it all work. get some good rca converters or it will make whining noises. which is not the electrical. it is the truck whining to tell you you need to get a better radio.

I had a local stereo shop hook up a system w/stock head unit...sounded like the stock head units turn down the bass as the volumn is turned up.Ended up going back and having aftermarket head unit w/xm.Very pleased.

with the price of CD/MP3 players these days, it is very inexpensive to replace your stock head unit. for about $200 you can put it in yourself. buy an aftermarket unit. it is worth it
