Amplifier Brands?
I am redoing the system in my Tahoe and the amps are the only componets I have left to choose. Back years ago when I was really into car audio I knew what brands/series were good and what to stay away from. The choices are just to vast now and with corporate america the way it is, a good brand name 5 years ago could have sold out and be crap now. I will be getting two amps, one 4 channel for my front and rear mids/highs and a mono for the subs. All 4 channels I am looking at are class A/B and have similar specs with rms output from 85-110W @ 4ohms. The respective mono blocks are all class D with output from 400-600W rms @ 2ohms. All amps are very close in price as well. I am going more towards a budget SQ system than SPL. Now for my question, what is the skinny on these amp brands/series? I am looking at:
Hifonics - Titan or Brutus series
Autotek - Street Machine or Super Sport series
Orion - Cobalt series
Infinity - Reference series
Alpine - V Power series

really like my sundown amp for my door speakers. Their sax-100.4 puts out 100w @ 4ohm so it would be good for your specs. website is sundownaudio.com
For the sub amp, I have had good luck with rockford fosgate, alpine, cerwin vega, and atomic(which i am currently running). Hifonics is good budget-wise but i have heard more than one time of one not doing rated power. Also, if i were going to go with the alpine i would go with their pdx line instead of the v power. It it is out of your price range it would be worth a little more to upgrade.
I am not saying the amps i listed are the only ones that are good but they are the only ones i have actually owned and have personal experience with. Good luck on the build.

Thanks for the input guys. I pulled the trigger on a Hifonics TXi 6408 and a TXi 1008D yesterday. If the 1008D dosnt put out all of the rated 700W @ 2ohms RMS it will still be plenty for the pair of 10W1v2-4 it will be pushing. If the W1's are not enough, which I believe they will be, I will have a big enough amp to upgrade to some stouter subs but nothing that will require the rated 1000W @ 1ohm. The 6408 is rated 85Wx4 @ 4ohms with a 0.05% THD. This will be plenty to push my Crossfire RS componets I currently have up front and coax in the rear. All this will be controlled by a JVC KD-AVX33 with 5V preouts so it should sound pretty clean.

BTW.. I had good luck with Hifonics back in the late 90's. My roomate in college had an Atlas pushing 3-10W3 in a 1ohm load in his extra cab Tacoma. I swear it made my heart skip a few beats on several occasions. Before that it was pushing one 15 and four 8's in a 1.5ohm load in his Explorer. That amp was tough as nails. I just hope I have the same luck with the new ones although there is no way I will be pushing them that hard.
