Default budget system recommendations

Hi all,
I will start off by saying that I am a newbie to car stereo; I know how to wire cars, and I know about electricity but have never installed a complete system before. After doing a lot of research, I have decided to build a system in the '69. Right now I have a basic Pioneer headunit that is powering a set of Orion 6.5" components in custom kickpanels (100W RMS/ 150W peak). They are awesome speakers, with great clarity but the problem is that they have only highs and mids, no lows; they also really need to be hooked to an amp. I listen to metal/rock so my current setup is killing me. I usually just turn the radio off and listen to the engine instead.
I have already relocated the gas tank from the cab, so I am planning on building an enclosure for behind the seat to hold some subwoofers. It's not a huge space, but two 8" or 10" subs should fit fine. Any recommendations on amps and subs would be appreciated. Also, I don't really have a set $ limit, but the more budget the better. Deafening old people at stoplights isn't my goal, just good solid sound.
Thanks in advance,
John
EDIT: upon further investigation, I think I will go with just one 10", maybe 12" sub, and run a four channel amp; two channels for the speakers, and bridge the rear channels for the sub. Thoughts?

It really depends on the budget but in my opinion a JL Audio W1V2 is the best sub for the money a 10 i sell for $110 and a 12 for $120. They play very low and sound really good not the loudest but sound the best in my opinion.

I 2nd for JL very clean sounding and the only sub I will buy. As far as amps I like Rockford Fosgate,JL,MTX for my top picks. Don't buy a good sub then go cheep on the amp.

Cool, thanks guys, that helped a lot. It looks like it will be a JL Audio sub.
Are there any particular amps that would work well with my setup? I know you are supposed to match the RMS of the speakers/subs to the amp as well as possible, but want to get opinions. My components are 3 ohm impedance, 100W RMS, and the sub would be 4 ohm, 150 W RMS.
Again, thanks for the help.
John

Well, I have got more questions.
I have been recommended Alpine amp MRP-F450. The specs are: RMS Power Per channel into 4 ohms: 70W x 4; Per channel into 2 ohms: 140W x 4; Bridged 4 ohms: 350W x 2. I have a friend that told me that I could use the front channels to power the speakers, bridge the rear channels and run two of the JLs in parallel. Would this work? If so, would I need the 8 ohm JLs since they would be wired parallel? I couldn't find any info about this type of setup anywhere.
I really appreciate the help (and patience),
John
