Default In-dash shifter clearance

I have a 99 silverado and I need suggestions on how to shorten my gear shifter or how to eliminate my clearance problem with a new in-dash flip out screen.

Maybe an aftermarket Billet shifter is shorter or shaped differently? Do you have any pics?

You could always paint the billet shifter.

I had a 2000 ecsb silverado with a Alpine IVA-D901 with a flip out screen, I took the shifter off, there is a pin inside the rubber boot down on the column, that you need to remove, then the whole shifter will come out, I took mine and placed it into a big vise, and then took a closed in big wrench, big enough to fit over the end of the shifter and also took a towel and wrapped it around the shifter end slid the wrench over it and then bent it enough to were it is out of the way of the flip out screen when it comes out of the dash and the vehicle is in park. Do not try to bend it with the shifter still in the column. if u need any more help just ask....
