Look for an accessories fuse in the fuse panel in the cab (if 09s have them). Then you can wire it in and have a protected circuit. Radar detectors have a very low draw so I wouldn't be afraid to put it on a circuit that was already used... Just not a vital one.

I used a fuse that was marked SEO ACC. This was in an 04 though. Your owner's manual should have some descriptions of the various protected circuits in the panel.

Grab a cig lighter extension and cut the male end off (the end you plug the radar detector into) and conect positive wire to a switched power source and the negative to ground. I generaly use the pink or orange wire in the ignition harness to do this and always use solder, never t-tap the ignition harness. I would also recommend putting a small fuse in the positive wire going tothe ignition wire, a 10A should be fine.

Try the invisicord (invisicord.com). It taps into the power on the rearview mirror.

Best Buy sells a direct wire kit, they are in their Car Audio section right above the radar detectors.

Installed my Valentine using a short cord from Radio Shack. Modified the end with a short post. Inserted it into the mirror power connection.

Comes on when I start the truck.

Cost $4.00
