Default Has anyone fit 2 JL Audio 10W3V2s behind/under the rear seat of a crew cab?

I'm looking to putting 2 JL Audio 10W3V2s behind or under the rear seat of my 2006 2500HD LBZ Duramax crew cab and I've gotten some that say that they will and some say that they won't. I really don't want to go with 10W1V2s or 8W3V2s. This will be powered with a JL Audio 500/1 amp. My installer states that he's built a few boxes and has fit the 10W3V2s behind the seat, but it sits right up against the back of the seat. He says he doesn't recommend it because I run the risk of blowing them because there's no room for the sub to flex as its right up against the back of the seat. Would sub grilles fix that? Anyhow, if you have fit them under or behind the rear seat, please post pics. Thanks.

If your installer builds the box right they will not blow up, nor will a grille help to prevent that. The biggest downside to putting a box under the seat is the seat will usually be not enough air space for the speakers, I have not measured it but the 3/4 ton looks like there is more room under the back seat to me and they will fit...I have had 2 10 W7 in the back of my extended cab but I did not like the way that that box made the lip of my seat stick up and was uncomfortable to sit on.

The box dose flex a little bit but is not like the seat is made of concrete, it flexes quite a bit and has alot of give, expescially the underside.

Ok, talked to my installer again today. I also took some measurements and we actually discuss in detail what were gonna do with my truck. He said if I wanted to run 2 JL Audio 10W3V2s and have proper space for it, then I would need to enlonged the holes in the seat brackets to move it forward 1". Now if I didn't want to move the seat, then he would recommend 3 JL Audio 10W1V2s. He stated if it were up to him, that he would build a custom console and throw a 10W7 or 10W6 in it. But I'm not really for that as I want to keep it stealth like. Anyhow, there's actually more room behind the seat than under. From the bottom of the floor to the bottom of the underside of the seat measures 7 3/4 inches and from the cab to the back side of the seat measures 8 inches. Anyhow, I'm leaning towards moving the rear seat up an inch then putting 2 JL Audio 10W3V2s powered by a JL Audio 500/1. What do you think?

that is going to be a weird box to get the right air space needed for a (slot?) ported box...

Well I really didn't want to relcoated, modify, remove, etc. anything. Now that has changed and I'll be removing the vents, removing the fold over panel, bending over the tabs, and moving the seat forward which I REALLY don't want to do. But if that's what it takes to run the 10W3V2s, then I guess I'll just have to do it as I really don't want to run 3 10W1V2s.

take the rear bench out, put in 2 tahoe/suburban middle row bucket seats. make a center console enclosure... that would be bad ***.

That would be badass, but I don't want to give up the extra seat. I wanted to keep this as stealth like as possible and now I'm removing and modifying to fit a set of speakers properly.

yeah I understand that, stealth is real good. Only thing you can see when you look in my windows is the silver cone of my infinity and my HU. But yeah, the 2 buckets and center console would be badass, but good luck with everything and keep us updated.
