Head unit to amp wiring
I was going to put an amp/sub in my truck, but with the factory bose system I think I would have to use a transmitter that i would splice into the LF +-, and the RF +-, and have provisions for RCA cables. Don't know why but I have one of these, would I have to splice in to the signal wires coming out of the headunit or the wires coming out of the factory amp to the speakers.
EDIT- I also bought a JL 1800D amp, and an Alpine SWX-1242D 12" sub and was wondering which way to wire it the 2 or 4 ohm
Thanks

Im sure others know more than I do but I think there is an interface to get aftermarket stuff to work with the BOSE?? Go 2 ohm with the sub, more power is always better than less and adjust the gain and output to your liking. You wont get stereo sound with just one sub anyway go with what sounds best to you.

if you use your LOC (line output converter) that you already have then splice into the wires out of your factory amp NOT your factory radio.... and since you are hooking up a sub (which is a mono signal) you only have to splice into 2 speaker wires...
as far as sub wiring we need to know how much power the amp puts out rms....you want to wire the sub which ever way get it closest to its power rating, overpowering or underpowering a sub will cause it to sound bad and distort...

If its an Extended cab you can pull the Drivers side door sill off and you'll see a harness running to the back of the cab in the little channel... Those are your rear speakers... You can use those for your LOC...
You cant tap into the wires at the Radio because the Head Unit is already sending out a Low Level signal...
I would spend the extra money and just buy the adapter that turns the Low Level Wires at the Radio into RCA's...

I have an extended cab w/ the full center console (no front bench). If you have this, you can just pull up on the cup holder tray and tap into your speaker wires at the amp from there. Real easy. I soddered into my front speakers, and the pink amp wire for power.
