Default Help me pick a headunit...

I am looking for a headunit for my Tahoe and need some help from you mobile audio gurus. When I bought the 'Hoe I stole the Alpine out of my truck but now that it is running again, I need to put it back. I spend about three hours on Crutchfield's site the other night looking and comparing but came up empty handed. Seems I can't find a single deck that has all the features I want.
-1 or 1.5 DIN
-DVD playback (doesn't have to have built in screen or flip-out)
-Rotary volume control
-XM satellite radio control
-F/R/S high volt pre-outs (4+V)
-Simple sleek looks (nothing funky looking)
-<$600

I would like to have DVD playback so that I can expand the system with external monitors in the future but don't necessarily have to have a flipout or built in screen in the headunit. The ability to add navigation in the future would also be a plus but not a necessity. I really like some of the double din units out but do not want to buy the dash bezel, radio bucket, center console and glove box from an 03+ to do the swap. I would rather put a single din unit in the radio location and modify my center console to add a 7" monitor where the external tape deck is. I am not brand loyal but I have had good luck with the Alpine in my truck. I was really big into car audio when I was a teenager and in my early twenty's but have been out of the scene for nearly 10 years. There are just way too many choices out there now.

here are a couple suggestions i found.....

http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...roductID=19560

As far as alpine goes, for the features you are wanting you are looking at $800+ unless you can find one used. Hope this will give you some options to look into.

Right now I am looking at the JVC KD-AVX33. It has all the features I want except rotary volume control. Still looking though.

The only unit Alpine has that meets my criteria is $1200.

My dually has an older JVC with the little 3.5" monitor and I like it. Has a lot of features I haven't even touched yet. Controls a lot, screen looks good, and its easy to operate.

I have pretty much narrowed it down to two. One with DVD one without. DVD - JVC KD-AVX33, CD - Alpine CDA-9886. I played with the Alpine at BestBuy yesterday and it is very simple although I didn't have an MP3 disk with me to navigate the file menu. Some of the sound shaping that is advertised that it does is only accessable with the add-on imprint module so that kind of aggrivated me. Nobody local has an AVX33 I can play with to help make my decision. I really want to play with one since I have read reviews of a complex file menu and slow file access
