Default high outout alternator

Well my alternator has gone bad and was thinking about up grading to a 200 amp alt. not sure if it would hurt my truck by running at size. What would you suggest i get as well or should I just get another stock one?

I'm running a 200 amp with no problem.

You can run as many amps as you want, as long as the alternator can keep from overheating.

just upgrade to a dr44g from a 03 ss. 145 amp alt all you need is a bigger belt. Ive seen these bench test around 160 amps at 2000rpm and 100 amps at idle.

Can be had new for around 100 bucks.

Are you talking about the 03 Silverado SS trucks? If so, my truck came with the 105 alt and not the bigger 145. The larger 145's came on the 05+ SS trucks with the electric fans. Regardless, I run a 200 amp alt now and its doing fine.
