On the 2nd diagram the wires from the positive and negative are like seen.

I wired it slightly different

I ran the negatives together in between the subs and ran the positive together in between the subs.

The farthest sub from the amp (passenger side) has the negative wire running to the amp

The closest sub to the amp (driver side) has the positive wire running to the amp

A web site said this was 1ohm another said it was 2 ohm

This is how I wired them!

I this bad if they are 4ohm subs?

No, that would be with 2 ohm speakers, you said you have 4 ohm. The lowest you can achieve with svc 4 ohm speakers, would be 2 ohm. Right now your running 8 ohm. What you want is run + to + and - to -, then + and - from one speaker to the amp, and this will put you at 2 ohm. That's the lowest you can go with those subs.

it can be confusing. And what size speaker wire are you running? You want bigger than standard speaker wire for that amperage, I'd say like a 12ga speaker wire, good luck, hope I helped.

Ya, that's bad. Your going to smoke them like that. I don't even know what ohm that would be.

If they are 4 ohm subs, and this is how you wired them, your amp is seeing a 2 ohm load. If your amp is stable at 2 ohms, then you're just fine.

I am running 10 gauge wire. Yes the are svc 4 ohm subs

I'm glad I did not crank them didnt even make it through 1 song. They shut on and off. Checked all the wires and everything was perfect. So I disconnected all of it. I knew that should not be happening. I don't think anything got hurt they have run cold for max of 2-3min at low volume.

+to+ and -to- then + and- too the amp. Like

I'm going to wire them that way again. I started to realize after researching, parallel circuits is how to gain maximum efficiency and reduce ohms by half. I just created a horrible series with 4ohm speakers. The 2 ohm speakers will parallel down to a 1 ohm verses the 4 ohm speakers can only go down to a 2 ohm.

The best sealed size of box from JL specifications is .625 ft^3

My box is .85 ft^3 without sub or driver displacement. I should be slightly above/below the .625^3 ft. Plus the polyfill. I don't think it is the size of the box hurting the lows

It could be JL in a sealed box cant hit the lows b/c they are small 10"s

The settings on the alpine head unit are set for heavy bass

The amp
gain is at 6-7ish
db is at 8ish
fq around 120 hz

^About as far as I will push the amp. Way to loud for me haha but still no low lows that you feel just kinda hear the sub trying

Ya, I don't know too much about the jl's, but I don't think it's the box at all, because I have some Memphis 10's in a down fire in a under the seat box, and it hits the lows hard, but they are also dvc @ 1ohm. I would put them up against 12's all day.

Oh ya, and them shutting down when you before, was your amp running hot and going into protection mode, because they weren't wired right.
