I must agree with W3s being the best all around sub, My stereo guy Puts more of those in vehicles then any other sub. because they sound good ported or sealed, and they arent super expensive.

I love my W7, All it needs is the JL 500/1 amp too. Super clean, loud, and deep bass

i think the 'rock' setup is less of a sub issue and more of a box issue. previously stated you do need to tune a ported box, however, kicker has a variety of 'tuned' enclosure plans for their subs (im sure other manufacturers do as well). Tune the ported box to 35-40hz or basically build exactly what kicker suggests and it will blow your mind. You're probably gonna have to get some component speakers to keep up with it.

*one great sub in a properly built enclosure is better than 2 mediocre subs just thrown in a square mdf box.

I would go JL-Audio, i have owned there w6v2, w7,w3v3 and my fav was the w6v2. you really cant go wrong with JL in my opinion, they make some quality products. good luck with your build.

mmmmmmm.....JL Audio.. I have a 10w6v2 that is going in mine. Great subs that will take some serious abuse. The w7's are just silly. Deep Deep bass.
The new w0 line that JL has come out with is actually really nice. I got to talk to one of the JL Audio reps during Spring Break Nationals in Daytona this year about them. He said that A LOT of the old w6v1 back in the late 90s technology went into building the new w0. They are really beefy for a entry level sub.

Do this package if you really like low bass. 3 cu ft ported to 30hz. http://www.edesignaudio.com/product_...roducts_id=759 The 13av.2 is a monster ported.
