Default My lights dim terribly when my bass hits???

Hey you audio stereo guru's.....I got a Pioneer Premier 300 watt amp, a Pioneer Head unit and componet set with a Kicker Comp Vr 10". When I turn my vol. up to like 20 and the song has some killer bass thumpage...my lights will dim badly.

I mean my headlamps and my dash amps and my voltmeter drops down to like 10 volts.

How do I correct this problem?

I think that a capacitor is recommended for high wattage amps.

*EDIT* I'm not an audio guru though...

something doesnt sound right, but I'm not an audio guru so I dont know what to tell you. But I had an infinity 4-channel and 600 watt mono, running a 12" L5. My lights would dim a little, but never like what you're describing.

But whats the model number of your amp? And is the sub dual 2 or 4 ohm?

yeah before i got a capacitor, my voltage meter looked like a bass needle... but at that time my alternator was going also... i think yours is a combination of the two

I'd say alternator before a cap. No way in hell do you need a cap for a 300 watt amp

Yeah Your Alternator Cannot Respond Quick Enough To Keep Up With The Quick Bass Hits.... Thats Why A Cap Is Needed...

A CAP IS SIMILAR TO LIKE LETS SAY A CAMERA FLASH....

AND YES 1 FARAD WOULD BE SUFFICIENT... BUT IF YOU ARE PLANNING FURTHER EXPANSION IN THE FUTURE IT MAY BE A SMART INVESTMENT TO GET A 5 FARAD OR SO... ITS NOT TOO EXPENSIVE
