Default P1637 DB 200A Alternator

Anyone else have issues with these? I'm on my 3rd one in maybe 100 miles. First one gave me a P1637/battery not charging right out of the box. Second one blew a cooling fan through the case. This one is giving me a P1637 again after very few miles. Every time I throw the stock one back on it works fine. Not sure it can handle all the pumps and fans though....Magnafuel, Meziere, dual rad fans, dual HX fans, tranny cooler fan.....

Constant. I was just running off the battery.

Check battery voltage with a volt meter when the truck is off and then when the truck is running. If there is no voltage change then the alt isn't working. (a running truck should have a voltage around the upper 13's and low 14's)

You also mentioned that when you put the stock alt back on it works and supports the truck like normal. When was the last time you hooked it up? Im not sure but do we have a fuseable link that runs the postive lead off the alt on our trucks? (I can't remember) I would check that if we do. It could be that if its bad or going bad.

The truck is running fine now on the stock alternator. The DB definitely wasn't charging and was not outputing an ON signal to the PCM on the L terminal.

Just wondering if anyone else has had similar bad luck with these. The little stocker seems more durable. We'll have to see if it can keep the battery charged.

I would think you'll be fine with the stocker. If it doesn't work I think caddys have a higher stock output if you need a little more. That belt stretch video is crazy!

does your stock alt have 3 wires vs 2 or 4 contacts ?
