sealed will be best, so look at a sub that has great performace out of a sealed enclosure. I know you said No to Kicker, but 'look' at the new 2009 Kicker Solobaric Classics. They are based off the older 1990's versions of the round Solobaric, that has great lowend, and SQ, in small sealed applications.

I've got an alpine m-450 pushing two Type-s 10's and its got enough bass for what I listen to. I am 5'11" and am very comfortable with the custom box have. I mainly listen to metal, and enjoy the tightness of sealed 10's. Your music preference can also determine what you might want for your system.

I run one JLW3 with a JL 250 watt amp and it sounds great! The box is sealed and I am 6' with plenty of leg room.

i had a JL10W7 in a ported center console box. the speaker fired to the rear of the cab, and the port was in the front, towards the dash. the box was shaped very similar to a factory tahoe or suburban center console. it had the factory cup holder in it also with the top being an arm rest. i had a jl 500x1 on the sub and a jl 300x4 on the mids & highs which were also jl components front & rear. sounded amazing. sorry, no pics, though.

Check into the stealth boxes JL has, I just got one but havnt installed it yet. The one i got i can actually use the center seat still, but its for a 2002 Dodge Ram 2500, just have to drill holes at some different locations on the box. I heard it in the original truck and it hits pretty hard.
