Re: stereo systerm!!!
Just make sure the box is a downfiring under the rear seat. With great planning, you should easily get about 1.2cf/chamber. With that space, you have the luxury of choosing almost any 12inch sub in the market. As far as space for the amps are concerned, that is something you have nothing to worry about. You have a lot of space behind the rear seat. Great choice of speakers. MB Quart, Focal and ADS are probably the best speakers on the market. Because of the tweeter location, make sure you swivel as to it points to the opposite person's ears to have the best imaging. As far as amps go, there are a lot of sweet sounding amps out there. I personally have experience with PPI and Orion(xtreme) amps. They are just awesome amps. I have the Orion Xtreme 800.4 running my whole system and it really pounds. Hope this helps

Re: stereo systerm!!!
The MTX thunderforms are good. the will fit two 10" woofers. I have 2- 12" woofers in a box I built myself. It fits under the seat.If you are interested in buying any PIONEER, MTX or COUSTIC stuff let me know. I can get it all for you at a great deal I am an Authorized dealer for these brands and seeing as how we are both truck guys I'll hook you up man!!

Re: stereo systerm!!!
Okay, time to start planning the stereo system for my GMC X-cab. I miss the bass!
I want a very clean sounding system, with plenty of boom on hand whenever I wish. The system needs to be mostly hidden, preferibly under the rear seat.
Which is better, a pair of 12s under the seat, or four 10s? Is it the general consensus to have downward firing speakers there? Why? I had a pair of forward firing JL 12s in my Ranger X-cab and it sounded awesome. Or is this for stealthiness and sizing reasons only?
Will four 12s fit under the seat?
Anyone have any pictures of boxes in these X-cabs under the seat? I want some ideas.
Also, is it possible to use the stock CD player and still have decent sound? I like the look/stealthiness of the stock radio. I know it doesn't have any RCA pre-outs, but do those line-level converters work better now than they used to?
I've heard of guys mounting their amps behind the back of the rear seats. Doesn't this cause them to overheat? Or have amps gotten alot cooler running in the past few years. The last BIG system I had was about 4 years ago. Back when I wasn't into speed as much
Thanks
Tony

Re: stereo systerm!!!
Well, I have the MTX Thunderform with two downfiring 10" subs. They are the MTX Thunder 6000's. Then I have a MTX Thunder 6500D amp pushing them. It has plenty of bass, and it is wired through my stock CD player, and all the stock speakers are still in place. I have this controller called and EBC (External Bass Controller). That way I can control the volume of the subs seperately of the rest of the system. We should meet up sometime Tony, so you could take a listen. I bet it is really close to the sound that you are looking for.

I'd love to hear your system. What part of town do you live in? How much am I looking to spend for a setup like yours if I install it myself?
Does MTX make 12" boxes for our truck?

Tony
you have seen mine, an heard how it sounds. I don't recommend forward firing like mine. It gives to much of a hollow sound. If I keep my current setup, I am going to rebuild the box and fire it down. The only drawback to putting the amps behind the seat is accesability. I have one amp back there, but have the x-over where I can get to it. The bass amp will remain under the seat due to it is working harder and will need better ventalation.

Re: stereo systerm!!!
Nick on this site has a rear-firing box with four 10s in it I believe. It is also under his x-cab seats. Sounds pretty loud!
I'm wondering if those square speakers make the bass sound different in your truck Greg. I know the JL 12s I had in the Ranger sounded very crisp and clean. Maybe because the cab was smaller than this one?
I didn't know you had an amp behind the seat too haha.

Re: stereo systerm!!!
My experience is that it doesnt really matter which way you point the woofers. I have two twelves mtx 8000. four twelves might fit but it would sound really bad. not enough air space, four tens is a pretty good option.
