Default Thin subs for a CC 3500

I am looking into getting a stereo together for my dually. I have 1 JL Audio TW5 in my wife's Yukon on a 500/1. It sounds awesome but at 500+ a piece and the amount of bass I want I am not sure if it would be a good option. I am thinking between 2 or 3 which would be awesome as the JL is a 3 ohm sub so 3 of them would make a 1 ohm load. Has anyone else used any thin subs like Memphis or MTX? My plans are 1000+ rms at 12v

Well I don't mind the price as I already have 1 but I am thinking of 2 or 3 and that would be 1500 worth of subs.....hell no. I have had numerous systems over the years and several trophy winning trucks and never spent that much on subs. Especially seeing they wouldn't have the airpsace needed for maximum excursion to move the kind of air and produce suffecient wave lengths. Maybe I will just try and do 3 or 4 Memphis if I have or can get enough airspace for them. I have had Memphis subs before, while they arent anything special they aren't bad. The last MTX I had was some Black Gold subs from a LONG time ago. Their amps used to be the **** but like I said it has been 4+ years since I have built a big system.

I have done the thin sub thing... Elemental designs don't last more than 6 months, Replaced with an audiobahn flat and it has a ton of cone noise.

Still waiting to try another brand in about 6 months when I get 100% fed up.

I've run a Kenwood Excellon 12" slim subwoofer in my truck for a good while now. I think they're $219 each. If you go Kenwood, make sure you get Excellon, the other stuff is crap.

I have heard the Kenwood shallows are much better than the others, well except the tw5s. I have 2 JL 10w1s in mine in the JL stealth box with the jl a1400 which puts out 500x1 at 2 ohms and it works for me. Was good enough that I put the same setup in my stepside.

I have never heard a Kicker I liked. I the TW5 I have in Stacey's Yukon sounds AWESOME but I want more. She only has 1 and a 500/1, the thing I don't like about the thin subs is the limited excursion and frequency response they have. I can say, after I drive Stacey's truck for awhile you can tell the sub loosens up a little bit and gets a lot louder. I was thinking maybe 3 or 4 of the MTX since my last stereo used Treo subs and 3 MTX amps and that was bullet proof

yeah, i mean the SQ from a JL is way better than any kicker.. kicker is just for SPL, i know people that ran w0s behind their crewcabs seat... my cousin actually had 3 10's... the new w0v2 is nice only 4.5" depth for a 10" i think and are only 100 dollars each or less... 3 of them at 8 ohms, gives u around 2.3ohms in parallel

From my experiences with car audio, Kickers are for LOUD rattle everything bass that is WAY too expensive. JL's are really nice, but also can be pricey. Alpine's, well I've heard good systems, but also bad with the alps. Not too many go with kenwood because of their "bad" rep. I'm got a single shallow mount 12" in a sealed box behind my console, and it beats hard. Hits good, tight, accurate, low bass. Kenwoods full-size subwoofers, aren't too great.

Hell my Kenwood 12" sounds better than my friend's JL 13" in a ported.

I'd recommend going to crutchfield, a car audio website that not only sells, but has tons of guides and articles on car audio and how to pick and choose components.
