tweeter placement
tweeter placement in a 2004 tahoe where would place them to get the best sound right now i have them placed at on the front door panel above 6.5 woofer and in the back pillar near the rear hatch glass it sounds good but the sound seems to come from out back even if you set all the sound towards the front and it is hookup correctly how big of a tweeter can fit on the a pillar where the factory had it

The best thing to do is get some duct tape to put on the tweeter so you can stick it to different locations. In this way you can hear how it will sound with the tweeter placement changed without having to permanently mount it everytime. On another note, I would double and triple check the wiring on the crossovers and amp because with the tweeters in the doors it should not sound like the sound is comming from the back unless something is not right. I have been doin this for awhile now and just the other day I hooked the woofer and tweeter up backwards on the crossover. You will probably want to fix this problem first as it wont sound any better with the tweeter in a different locations until you get it to sound right in its current location.

Tweeter placement
Unless you are going for high-end competition the door location will work fine. I installed some Infinity speakers into my 01 Yukon and they sound great. Just make sure that you angle them forward and up.
Here are some pictures I took of my install.
Every thing fit under the stock grill and cleared the inside door structure. Something to make sure of is that you run a crossover to the speakers. The factory tweeter has a very small resister on it that it used to cut out the low but the factory speaker wire that goes to it is just split off of the woofer wire so they get the same signal. I built a panel that I mounted my crossover too and mounted it low under the woofer. I used the woofer speaker wire to the crossover as my source.

Crossover Pics
Here are some pictures of the crossover plate and mounting. I used a piece of smoked Lexan that I had laying around in my garage. I made tabs on the plate so that I could use the notches that the factory woofer used to mount on the bottom. That away I only used one sheet metal screw to secure the plate. Hope this helps you.

I really like the tweeters mounted in the a pillars aimed at the windsheild so it reflects the sound off the windsheild and gives you a really nice and full front stage. That is where Bose mounted the tweeters in the fullsize so they must have known something

The tweeters at the top of the pillars pointed across the cab from each other will make it sound great.
I had mine that way in the last truck, but am waiting to score a great deal on the Focal 3 way components
I already have 5" components in the ext cab doors, and coax's in the front (all focal), and just need the final 3 way touch
