Default Whining coming from RF speaker only...

Just started happening, i know a bad ground is a common reason, but since i havent touched anything in months to years, it leads me to believe something else is failing.

2004 Tahoe
Bose factory setup
Alpine CD/Stereo with the DMOS-04 (i think this little POS is the problem)
used connectors for radio install.

is it the BOSE amp?

any common quick things to check?

thanks in advance

I would say it would be the amp or the head unit. If you haven't messed with any grounds and it just started happening I would look there. Do you still have the old factory radio? If so pop it back in and see if that is the culprit.

Its the easiest way. If it still makes that noise you might have an amp going out. If it stops then the Alpine is on its way out and time for an upgradddeddeee!

My truck had the same exact whining coming from the left front. Almost sounded like i had a supercharger on my truck lol. I couldnt find the exact source of it, but when i turned the deck off the whine shut off with it. So i pulled the deck and rewired it all over. I double checked the wiring to my amp also. The whine is gone now. My guess is that you may have a bad connection somewhere. Just go through it all and make sure its all good, its an easy starting point.

i really didnt want to have to rewire everything!

im using the factory amp, but im thinking i might have to bypass it in order to isolate it.

but yes it stops when i shut the radio off.

RCA you say? i guess i could swap them out for test purposes.

yup, try unplugging and see if it goes away, or swaps sides.

If the (+) amp power cable is too close and in parallel to the RCAs sometimes the electromagnetic waves will induce "whine" into the RCA cables.. if thats the case you'll need to re-route the RCAs or buy some with better insulation~
