Default x920bt bypass question

I installed a x920bt pioneer head unit and couldn't get the steering wheel adapter, or the bypass to work. i took it to an installer and he apparently doesn't know either because mines still not working. they got the steering wheels adapter to work, but the bypass kicks of after twenty mph. the bypass walkthrough says to move the mute wire to the left and ground it to the parking break wire. i have three questions the first is will i lose the mute function, second can i get some wire and ground to the left without removing the pin/wire, and finally do i have to actually ground it or can i just ground it to my after market harness ground? someone please chime in i really don't want to go back to the installer. Thanks
