Default Moving to Texas

Planning to move to the Dallas area, probably around Plano or Mckinney. Any words of advice? Areas to avoid?
Thanks for the help.

Avoid living in Plano and Mckinney.

Just kidding. Nothing wrong with those areas, but they will always be busy during rush hour, weekends etc.

Traffic gets nasty here but my commute is 3.5 miles

Heat index over 100 the past 2 weeks. Hot and sticky humid. I think I can handle it. It'll be nice not having to snowblow after a 2 foot snow like we had last winter.

Freaky religious or beautiful? Wisconsin claims to be God's country. I'll be down with the wife in a couple of weeks to check out the area.
Thanks guys.

You may not have to snow blow but we had several inches of snow/ice a couple days this year and DFW came to a stop lol
Almost everybody stayed home

Frisco is nice, I'm on the edge in Prosper. Little Elm and Aubrey are nice as well. We are all small and quiet, and on the edge of Frisco and Denton. Far enough from the rush, close enough to enjoy the perks. East of highway 75 in mckinney it gets a bet rougher aesthetically and crime wise. I suggest look on the opposite side. Plano years ago was really nice, but with its huge growth over the years it isn't what it used to be, but still nice nonetheless. Great places to eat in both areas.....tons to do. Stay out of Mesquite/Garland if you can, I grew up there, and it is a total shithole! Oak Cliff, and most of Grand Prairie and Pleasnt Grove is a no no. So is Seagoville and Balch Springs.

I'm in Crossroads, between Little Elm and Aubrey. It's nice living out of the city a little. The drive/traffic sucks, but it's worth it in the long run. Plus housing is much more affordable if you go out a little ways.

We aren't in any city limits, so we can shoot fireworks, etc in the street in front of our house (Cross Oak Ranch subdivision). There have been a few incidents of coyotes taking smaller pets and the cops said we could shoot them if we saw them....lol.
