That is why I hate double flare. The problem is, I don't think your tooling is gonna work. We had one of those same types at my work (navy) and I double flared aluminum on it all day. When it came to steel I had the same issues you are having. Fortunately for me I ended up ordering a new one to replace that turd and it worked ok. We normally don't double flare on anything but liquid oxygen and a small amount of nitrogen lines, which are aluminum.

I tried tightening both ends first and both at the same rate and it didnt make a difference. Its a cheap orileys brand $25 one. I only plan on needing it once to do this one job so no way am I spending $200 on a fancy one....

I tried putting the middle in a big pair of vice grips and it didnt help. I dont have my vice down here but I might make a trip to home depot to use their vice and do it there...

Im going to call a few shops and see if anyone that has a better tool to do it for me. Otherwise I will just replace the entire line with something friendlier. This line lock thing is turning into a huge pain in the ***.

Go to a hydraulic shop & pay them to flare it. Probably only cost you around $10.

Yea, thats what im thinking...when I take the line off of the ABS thing, is fluid going to start pouring out? I really dont want to have to deal with that. I just assume delete the abs all together to be honest.

Yea I saw that and that crossed my mind, so I double checked the tube with my calipers and it measures to exactly a 1/4" tube, not the close 6mm.

Well good news, I found a guy in town that works at a hardware supply type store and he was nice enough to give it a shot and managed to get the small peice flared using a similiar type Rigid brand tool in a big *** vice. Now I just need to take him the 6' piece still on the truck....anyone know if all the fluid is going to drain out of the abs when I do that? Really not looking forward to having to bleed all the brakes again, but oh well...

I'm guessing it would just drain that line but still be a good i dea to bleed all again anyways
