im in the market for some new tires. this is for a 05 2500hd ccsb 6.0. i do alot of hauling/towing. my first set of 285/75/16's were 8ply and buldged big time and didnt last long. then i bought 17x9" wheels and 285/70/17 8ply bfg at's they have a 3ply side wall. the did much much better but only last like 20k. so i tried 285/70/17 nitto terra grapplers. 10 ply. worked great for 20k. now they are just about bald. this past winter was tough with them. this year im gonna go with a 315/70/17 or 35x12.50.17 which limits my options for a 10 ply. anyone have any good experiances with any 10plys of this size. i would prefer a nice agressive at but would not turn away from a mild mud tire. mileage is a concern and price are important. im looking in to the interco super swamper vortrac tires. they sound decent.

check into the michelin LTX AT2. my dad has them on his 06 ccsb dmax and really likes them. we have tried nitto, yokahama, falken as well...michelin worth the extra dough. go check for your sizes.

y not go with a 305 65 17.
You will have a big selection of 10 ply tires.
They are almost all E rated.

they work great in sand mud and gravel. the first set saw about 3000 miles in baja. and they are quiet on the pavement. good luck.

i have 285/70/17's now. all that would get me is about an inch of width height will stay the about same.

my last 2 sets of 285/70/17 have lasted 60k miles and I have towed quite a bit with them on my last powerstroke. What kind of load are you towing and how often?

i have my choices narrowed down to 3. i picked up a used set of hankook mt's in a 315/70/17 to use un till im ready to get new ones. these are only a 8 ply but they were free. im hoping to get through the summer with them atleast before buying the new ones.

I have used BFG mt&at, GoodyearMTR's and now tried Dick cepek FC2s. the best wear has been the fc2s by far. but they handle like ****. makes steering feel loose. bad loose(all steering is currently new). I donk like the wear of the BFG mt, but will go back to them. those never let me down and handle what ever thrown at them

I only buy bf goodrich all terrains. I ran 8 ply on my f250 and they lasted 60k. I now have a f350 that has 40k miles on a set of 285/65/20 bfg's and still have 20-30 k miles left on them. Last time I went thru a scale I weighed in around 22k total weight with a bumper hitch trailer. Which is the same trailer i used to pull with my f250.
