Default 4x4 problem

When i put my truck in 4hi and floor it on a wet road or a dirt road it seems like just the back wheels are working so i put my truck on jack stands and put it on 4hi and the back wheels start turning then the front ones start rotating all together so it seems like its working but when i try it on the road it seems like if not what can it be ?

Front diff is turning. But passenger wheel is not locked in.. Or how ever that front diff works. Was both fronts spinning on the jack stands?

Do you have the manual case or the autotrac one? I thought I just read about someone with a similar issue and the clutches in the auto case were shot.
