aftermarket torsion keys
Are they worth the 200 bucks? What do you get from the aftermarket ones that you can't get out of the stockers?
And am I reading right? Are people putting ford Tbars in GMs? Whats the benefit in that? What mods are needed to do that?

You can put the torsion bars keys froma '97-'03 Ford F-150 in a 1/2 ton 1500 GM truck and they will allow more lift to be achieved by tightening the torsion bar bolts. Most NBS ('99-'06) trucks can't even get level by cranking the factory keys, so the Ford keys allow a little more cranking so the truck can be leveled. I maxxed my bars on my '01 and only got an inch, and I'm still lower in the front by another inch. Try cranking your factory ones up first...if you can't level the truck, then you're a candidate for Ford Keys.
Those aftermarket keys are usually just the Ford keys w/ the #s ground off...just go to the Ford dealer and pick them up...about $50 for the pair.

yea i ordered my tkeys from ford website, they were $40 shipped to my door, $200 is ridiculous
one thing though, i would recommend NOT doing the ford keys, im sure ppl will disagree wit me but from MY experience wit them, i wouldnt do them again

Yeah, I would only recommend them if you can't level the front w/ the rear using the stock keys. These guys using them for 3" of lift and putting 3-4" blocks in the back to replace the 2" stockers are asking for probs, IMO.

Yeah, it works, but you yourself have said on here that your front end is getting sloppy...if you had just leveled it, you'd be better off. The CVs, BJs and tie rods can only handle steep angles for so long, and it causes them to wear faster. Just throwing that out there so this guy knows what he's getting into if he lifts the front end 3" with keys.

Im not really stuck on the truck being level, not for look anyway. Im a function over form type of guy. All I need is a bit of clearence(sp), so I can pack some real meat under the truck and not have to spend the money on the susp. lift.

well id have to say a 305s a 305, yea they might be meatier but i think they are still the same size ya know... as long as you go wit 9" wide wheel i couldnt see why they wouldnt fit, i ran 285/75 on 16x8s wit 3" body and tkeys and a add-a-leaf and ill guarantee you wit them wheels i coulda ran 315/75/16s
