I was just trying to say that he would need to keep his wheel size similar. If you stay with 16-17 inch diameter and 8-9 inch width. I know I couldn't run 35's with my 20x10's.
Then again it all has to do with how much you are willing to crank and how much you cut.

Are you talking about a 4wd with a 3 inch body lift or a 2wd with a 3 inch body lift? A 2wd with 3 in body only can only clear 285/75 no cutting or 305/70 MAYBE w/ cutting on the front and some cranking, it would clear a 305 fine in the rear. If you have a 4wd with a 3 inch body I'm sure you could stick some 305's on there with minimal cutting. Like everyone said before 305's are basically right around 33's and 315's are basically 35's. You really aren't going to get a 315 if you are just wanting to put a 3 inch body lift.

I have a 2004 GMC z71 with stock keys and just put 315/75 16 maxxis mudders on, they fit.. all i had to cut was a inch of the inside corner of the bottom of the front bumper (right infron of the tire.) you can not even see it unless you look inside the fender well. thats a 35 on stock lift
