insurance totalled it, im getting 9000 for it, i have 3000 left to pay so ill end up with about 6000, the reason i got so much for it is that they think that its a v8 4x4 with the
z71 package. i was gonna buy it back but they want 4000 to buy it back. so im just gonna go with a 96-98 ext. cab z71.

Just to let you know, the Insurance company definitely DOESN'T think that it is a 4x4 v8 because your truck insurance goes by your VIN number. Don't think you can outsmart an insurance company with stickers lol

then how did i get so much back for it? 03 v6 2wd, 97k miles, what makes that 9000 dollars worth, i can buy a used truck 03 that is stock and get it for about 5 or 6, with the same amount of miles.

If you can get 03's for 5-6k with less than 100k miles then buy em and flip em!!! Remember they are wanting 4k for a totaled truck. They go by vin# and it gives them all the options. My 99 rcsb would bring 8-9k stock. They got you at average price, you could counter and get more, ins. always try's to lowball especially on the first offer. Tell them you won't settle for less that 11k plus loss of work and inconvenience granted you were not at fault which it seems you were not. I got $1400 when a girl backed into my bumper and put a small dent in it.

Just to let you know man I would not take the advice of the last post. I work for an insurance company and his suggestion is serverly incorrect. The idea of insurance is not to make a profit, it is to put a person back no better and no worse than previous to a loss. The original offer is not a "low ball" offer, it is what it will cost to fix your vehicle or the ACV (Actual Cash Value) of what your vehicle is worth.

If you do go the route to try and screw an insurance company they can do one of two things. They will either drop you (or your dad in this case) or they will increase your premium to make up for what they paid out. Just a piece of adivce.

there are alot of good points being made here. but all i have to say is at least you get a new ride. start off in something new. if my truck got hit like that i wouldnt really want it back. i would hope they give me some money and total it. they do some good things at body shops these days. but to me its never really the same after that.
