and i did use pb blaster. says so in first post. this aint my first rodeo. i've never ever had to pound that hard to try to remove a torsion key. im gonna soak it twice a day for another 2 days. if that dont help im gonna cut it off. oh and my crossmember cant be removed easily. i tried that too. theres a bolt on each end, no problem. but you cant lift it up to clear the mount because the exhaust is 3/4 inch above it on one side, the transfer case is about 1 inch above in middle and the brake abs thing is about 3/4 inch above on the other side.
I never said it would be easy to take the crossmember off but it's possible. Take the exhaust off and unbolt the abs box so you can move it around. Yeah theres a lot of **** but it can all be taken off with some time. My torsion bars slid right out after a couple of wacks but on my friend's truck it took us all day to change a set of keys and take all that **** off.

Here's what you need to do:

1) Go to your gym.
2) Ask for the manager.
3) Demand a refund.

I welded a washer and a grade 8 1/2" nut to the hole you put your extension through to beat on the bar. Then use a grade 8 bolt and impact to press it off. I did mine in the driveway with 120,000 so they were on there good. Smack the bar with a hammer as your putting tension on the bar. Now they I put my new ones on they slide right on and off pretty easily.

It worked well. Also made my own torsion detensioner with angle iron. May want to clamp the cross member to prevent it from spreading. I know it's kind of crappy idea but gotta do what ya gotta do.

if you happened to read post 2,3, and 5 you would have not needed to ask.

When I did mine, I unbolted all of those things. Had the trans/t-case up about 2". It wasn't bad, just a bit if a pain in the ***, but was easier than smacking the **** out of everything though, IMO.

I also had to unbolt mine. Ten years of salty winters had them stuck in pretty good. It wasn't as big of a pain as I thought it would be to pull the cross member out. I ended up having to get a buddy to hold a big punch with a pair of vise grips while I wailed on it with a 10 lbs sledge. Took probably 30 hits per side to pop them loose. Good luck.
