Default cranking torsion bars

I just picked up a 99 Z71 4x4 RCSB. I need to put new tires on it pretty much right off, and want to upsize a little on the stock rims. I am thinking 285x75x16 Yoko Geolander AT-IIs. I have read some say to crank the torsion bars to fit 285s - plus it does need to come up in the front to level it out. Does cranking the torsion bars effect the alignment any? I was planning to get it aligned anyway when I put the tires on, but wondered what effect cranking has. Thanks in advance for the help!

yes you need to align anytime you crank the bars

I have cranked my stock torsion keys to fit the 285's on stock and aftermarket wheels with no problem of fitment, but did need to realign. Also then added the new torsion keys with different clocked position to get the same level without twisting them up as much for adjustment. I am currently running 17's with the 265's and they look good.

I have not noticed and have been told my truck still rides stock without being a rougher ride either???

Sweet lookin truck man! Looks like you debadged yours too! I ended up not cranking yet, cause I didn't wanna go for the alignment. I think it still looks good - here are some pics (double click for large):

Those are 285s. I guess cause they are not very aggressive tread, they don't look it - but they are. Thanks.

That pic is in the shop I tune for in the evenings. GM performance stuff - F-Bodys, Vettes, GTOs, Caddys and trucks.
