Gas mileage and lifted???
#11
You can pretty much say for every inch of lift, expect one mile per gallon less in fuel efficiency. My V6 Sonoma is 16" taller than stock and it's getting about 10mpg...used to get 26mpg. A couple of my Z71 1500 and 1500 HD buddies have their 6" lifts and could get 18-19 but instead get 12-13mpg.
Unfortunately the reverse is not true...going lower ≠ better fuel efficiency. It does to some affect with less frontal drag and wind resistance, along with usually smaller diameter tires but then ya start packing on 20's and 22's the extra weight cuts all gains you could have had. IF it were true,...IF....I'd slam all my trucks down to road grater status for the best possible fuel efficiency of a Prius.

One is bone stock 1500 5.3L/4L60E with a 6" lift, 4.56's and 315/75R16 BFG AT's. The other is a 1500 HD VortecMAX 6.0L/4L80E with a 218/224 .562/567" 112LSA custom grind with a mail order tune and 4.10's with the same 6" lift and 305/70R17 Nitto Terra Grapplers's. The 1500 HD just saw a best of 14mpg on the way back from school going 73-75mph. None of us drive conservatively.

I try to drive conservatively with mine!!! I use it for back and forth to work and get a solid 15 miles to the gallon. Last weekend we took a trip up to Lake Texoma and we got 19 on the highway. Of course the cruise was set at 65 MPH and A/C was on, anything over 65 MPH and the mileage goes down. I'm getting a promotion in July and can afford it, but it's like I'm paying on two cars and driving one when I get that gas bill every month.
I always hear it, "YOU GOTTA PAY TO PLAY!!!"

That's better than most stock Dodge trucks, but I believe those VHO's are 6.0's with the 80 tranny, right? I'm hoping mine won't change to much from were she is now, but my driving habits will have to be adjusted to get there!

I have a 3" lift with 33's and I average about 14.6 mpg city. Only if i make a serious effort. If i punch it every now and then, ill see low 13's. I havent been able to more than approximately 420 miles on a tank on the freeway. which equals about 18 mpg.
Cruise control is my best friend even in the city.
Tips
-Inflate tires
-Cruise control
-Use AC (avoid rolling windows down)
-Tailgate up
-Clean out your truck (useless extra weight adds up)
-Tune
-Sea Foam (I can only speculate, Ive never tried it and i have 100K miles now)
-Efans
-Pulleys
