Some people have used the ford keys to get some extra lift out of the stock suspension. a body lift is another way of getting a few more inches.

If you craw up under the truck you will see where the tbars connect to the frame with some keys that have bolts on them. if you tighten those bolts it will put more load on the bars and will raise up the truck. If you install the ford keys it will just allow you to crank up the bars a little more

One reason going the ford key route; when you crank the TB bolts up a lot you are exposing a few too many thread, which could lead to failure (bending over or breaking off.) I think you won't be able to crank on the torsion bars enough to clear 305s or 315s without excessive trimming. I think the biggest tire you can fit on your truck without a body lift or suspension lift is 285/75/16, I have seen trucks with 305/70/16 and they are running a 3 inch body lift.

305/70/16 are 32.68" tall and are the same height as 285/75/16, but are almost an inch wider.

315/75/16 are 34.49"

I am running 305/55/20 which are 33" tall, I am running a leveling kit from Ready Lift. I should have used 305/50/20, I had slight rubbing with my tires turned all the way to the right or left and under compression, but I don't now. When I was involved in an accident I had the front bumper mounts moved a 1/2" forward to eliminate the rubbing.

first of all just because a tire says 33's or 35's it doesnt mean that thats the exact size , matter of fact most tire companys round of their tires to the next size, just go to any website of the company who makes the tire and see for yourself. you can put 33's on their stock with a lil or minor rubbing, but nuthin to complain about, ive seen lots of guys with 35's with ford keys and even a few with 36's with just ford keys! but remember if you are a serious offroader you want some articulation so you can keep all four of those tires on the ground.

I checked out that site for the ready lift, and I am in the same boat as the original poster, trying to figure out the right path.

I would like to go to 295/70/17's, and on that readylift site, it says you can go to 285/70/17's. Do you think that the 295's would fit?

ford keys and 3" BL with Add-a-leaf or a bigger block in the rear will let u run 35's with little to no rubbing on stock wheels or 16x8's

I created an Excel table with overall height and width. I know these are not the same as the tire manufacture but they are pretty damn close.
295/70/17 - 33.26" x 11.61"
285/70/17 - 32.71" x 11.22"
285/75/16 - 32.83" x 11.22"
305/55/20 - 33.21" x 12.01"

I got 305/55/20 on my truck and they did not rub unless I got the wheels turn all the way to the right or left and I am coming off a steep incline at 15+ mph.
