Leveling Kit & Wheel Offset

Leveling Kit & Wheel Offset
Hi to everyone, I just traded in my JK Rubicon for a silver '08 extended cab silverado. I'm loving the truck so far.
I know this topic has been discussed over and over, but I couldn't find any information regarding different wheel offsets. I plan to do a 2" leveling kit in the front as well as one inch bigger blocks in the rear, and will be running 285/70/R17 Duratracs... which is the largest recommended size, correct?
Anyways, I'd like to get some aftermarket 17's that "stick out" a bit farther than stock... As much as possible without rubbing. Some offsets that I'm considering:
+ 31mm (stock, will not rub)
+ 25mm (I don't think this will rub)
+ 18mm (might require a little trimming)
+ +0mm (this requires trimming both the fender and some metal, from what I've read)
So, for everyone running a 285/70 tire on a 17" rim (or an equivalent tire size), post up your offset and whether or not you had to trim your fender. Any info is appreciated, thanks!

I had aftermarket leveling keys and a 4" block on a 2000 no triming required but I took it off and lowered my 4wd loving it better then a small lift sold the 285s and went to stock tire size

do you have 4wd?you can put the ford f150 keys in your truck and it will lift it higher than most leveling kits, not sure if newer f150 keys are the same but i got mine out of a 97.
little food for thought.

I've found that you need more lift on the NNBS (07-up) than the NBS to fit the same size tires. Your truck won't be "leveled" if you add a 2" spacer to the front and 1" on the rear (will still have a rake). IMO go with a 2.5" spacer up front and don't touch the rear (leveled). Also, why are you going with 17" wheels when most vehicles now days come from the factory with 20's? I would at least go with 18's bc I think that it would be easier to find tires for them in the future. As for the rubbing, that is affected by the height and width of the tire as well as the wheel offset. To answer your specific question, I am not sure. I do know that a 2" lift with 305/50/20's (32.5" tall) and a pretty wide offset will rub badly driving forwards/backwards.

My 2011 is leveled (2-2.5" coil spring spacer) on 285/70-17s, and I have plenty of room to offroad, flex, and turn however I want with no rubdue to retaining stock offsets. If you want your truck to look meatier by putting wider wheels on it, you should keep it conservative to the point that you know it will fit, unless you are very willing to trim to accommodate your decision. Also, I wholeheartedly disagree with the advice to go bigger than 17s for tire choices; 17s still retain some of the largest availability of truck tires you can get.

I would look at a set of 33x12.50x17 tires. Here's my set of ProComp MT's on stock Silverado wheels. Going with aftermarket wheels... they are usually 17x9 instead of the factory 17x7.5's And in my opinion, i think the 305's would look better than the 285's. But The 285's will be cheaper and you will have more brand options. But the 305-65 or 33x12.50 is just another direction you can go. Some people don't like wider tires... me i LOVE wide tires
