Default Nitto Mud Terrain

So I've had these for about 5k miles and I love them. Perform great in the mud and well on the street. I was disappointed when I kept hearing how loud they were. I dont think they're really that loud and this is my first mud tire. Just thought id throw in some feedback.

Give them about 15-20K more miles then let me know what you think of the noise. Mud tires get louder as they wear, and the nitto mud grapplers are the loudest mud terrain out there besides the purpose built tires like the interco boggers.

I've got the mud grapplers. Well thank you both for clearing up the noise issue. I thought they would be loud when new. It doesn't bother me at all.

they get loud when they get chopped up from bad alignments and wore out front ends. which these tires (becuase of their tread design and width) will help accelerate. mud grapplers are awesoem, but they are hard on your front end.

balance them every 5k miles. also a good way to figure out what psi you should be running to get even wear is to mike across the tread left, center, right. if the measurement is the same your pressure is good. if not adjust accordingly. I practice this because i want to use all the $1600 worth of tread i paid for. Most the time you see tires like this worn out in the middle.

When you say mike across the left center and right what do you exactly do? Sorry for the newb question. Thanks for the info! I feel you on getting the most out of your money/tires.

i think what hes saying is if the tread is wearing faster in the center your running too much pressure... like sleepersilverado said.. most people are run too much pressure

Ahh makes sense. What do you guys run the tires at? Mine are at manufacturers specs.

sorry i did not get back with an explanation. don't get on here much just happened to stumble across your thread when i was working nights.

Anyways i ran my 33's at about 45psi and i run my 35's at about 53psi. I still need to get some miles on the 35's to see if that is the correct pressure. Also your pressure will vary depending on the width of your wheel. IE: i run factory wheels which are skinny so i have to run less pressure. A wider wheel will allow more pressure.

As for miking the tires just go to an auto parts store and get you a thread depth gauge. take multiple measurements across the tread and you should get the same measurement. if not adjust the pressure. Smaller measurement in the center reduce the pressure and raise the pressure if the center measurement is more than the outer. hope this helps.
