Power not up to par?
Ok i have a 2003 2500hd 6.0 5 speed with 4.10 gears. It does have 285/75/16 tires on it but other wise stock. Today i went to pick up a truck my dad bought. 87 dodge 1/2ton 2wd. Used my 18ft car trailer. I figure truck and trailer weighed around 6500 together. Heading back i hit a hill about 70 and felt like i was towing the titanic up this hill....Slowed all the way down to 45 in 4th. VERY unhappy as i got passed by a 1/2ton ford towing a Large boat on the way up the hill.
Any ideas? I had the scanner on it yesterday and it had no codes in it. Recently replaced fuel pump and filter. Runs great just seems to be way down on power.

4th is your 1:1, right, unless 5-speed was a typo you have the manual. 45 mph in 4th sounds slow for that gear; what rpm were you at? LSs need more rpm to make power then the old big blocks; I only drive the automatic trucks but when I find myself needing extra torque I usually downshift until the rpm gets up around 3200rpm before things get smooth. Just my personal experience.

I know it doesnt have the power my old 454 had but dang i didnt have much of a load. 4th gear @60 is right around 3k rpm. It seems to get worse the farther i went yesterday. I datalogged it with HPtuners last night and am starting to think one of the cats is plugged up and its pulling fuel the farther i drive.

Might want to do the sea-foam treatment..I just did that to my truck and it feels alot different now... Its on the LSTech tab,and just type in sea-foam... 2-cans of sea-foam and 1 bottle of deep-clean.. Mine did'nt smoke too bad,but it smoked to show it was working..

Let it scream. I regularly spin 5k rpm to stay at 70 with a decent load, which is 2nd gear in a 4l80 truck. Id just put it in 3rd and let that thing spin.
Or supercharge it.
Im to the point where I know I wont be completely satisfied with the bottom end of the powerband till I force feed it. Just a matter of personal preference and cost.
